Our MUCOLYTIC Formula naturally, safely, and effectively help break down the chemical structure (protein/DNA bonds) of mucus, directly reducing its viscosity and stickiness. A mucolytic helps you cough up phlegm (also called mucus or sputum). It works by making your phlegm less thick and sticky. Mucus is primarily caused by eating an acidic diet (which consists of acidic foods such as animal products [meat, dairy], certain grains, processed foods, condiments, fast food, junk food, etc. as well as consuming certain beverages [alcohol, coffee, hot cocoa, soda pop, etc.]).
Muclytic is not synonymous with expectorant. Expectorants increase pulmonary secretion while mucolytic agents loosen secretions. The term “mucokinetic agent” may be preferred as it indicates that the agent aids clearance of the respiratory tract secretions.
