Menthol crystals are natural, needle-like solid compounds derived from Mentha arvensis (cornmint) essential oil, creating a powerful cooling and refreshing effect. They are primarily used to relieve respiratory congestion, soothe muscle aches, reduce tension headaches, and calm skin irritation.
Menthol crystals are used in saunas or added to hot water for steam inhalation to clear sinuses, or in shower steamers for a refreshing aroma.
Ingredients: Pure Organic Mint Crystals.
Directions: Add 2-3 crystals to 2-4 ounces of hot water and inhale through the nostrils to clear sinuses. Alternately, add 1/4 of jar to hot bath water. NOTE: Not to be consumed orally. Do not apply directly to skin. Keep out of eyes!
Melting Point: Roughly 107 F - 111.2 F (42 C - 44 C), meaning they melt easily in warm oils.
Solubility: Insoluble in water and glycerin, but fully soluble in alcohol and essential oils.
Appearance: Clear or colorless needle-like crystals.
Dilution is Essential: Menthol crystals should never be applied directly to the skin or used alone, as they can cause severe irritation, skin rashes, or burns.
Proper Use: Dissolve crystals in carrier oil or alcohol before adding them to formulas.
Concentration: Generally, use no more than 2% in food-grade additives or 5% in topical applications.
Safety: Keep away from children and avoid using near the eyes
